Kubota Eidal Vertical Grinder Print E-mail

The Kubota Eidal Vertical Grinder

The Vertical Grinder was invented in 1966 by Roy Eidal of Eidal Heavy Industries. This industrial conglomerate was put together under the leadership of the visionary Roy Eidal in 1943. The conglomerate was unfortunately torn apart and sold to various other companies after his death. Our company acquired the shredder division in 1983 from the Carborundum Pangborn division. We licensed Kubota and Hitachi Heavy Industries in Japan to build these machines for the Japanese market.

In the 60's, Eidal Heavy Industries started manufacturing grinders in collaboration with the Dravo group. The Vertical Grinder technology came to life in 1966. This unique patented machine uses the concept of a ring mill, but mounted on a vertical shaft rather than the traditional horizontal mounting.

Kubota Eidal Vertical Grinder Features:

The design allows the material being processed to flow from top to bottom while being ground. This unique feature also completely eliminates the need for a sizing screen. The inner, adjustable choke rings adjust the retention time in the machine, thus changing the output materials size. Because these machines lack a traditional sizing screen, they can run for days on end without ever needing to be cleared of congested material.

These machines can process all sorts of materials.

- Wood waste

- Electronic scrap

- C&D waste

- Tire wire

- Castings

- Scrap metal

- And many more...

The massive V400 has 4 rotating arms and 32 grinding rings. We improved on the original design by adding a center shaft with a top bearing. This new feature increases the machines strength and durability.

The rotor spins at 500 RPM and pulverizes anything that comes in contact with it. The grinding rings then knarl the shattered material into a frag, in the case of scrap metal, or into finer particles in the caes of more brittle materials such as wood, castings and glass.

The smaler V100 will do everything the V400 does, but in smaller quantities and with smaller feed stock. This model still has 4 arms, but its size limits the machine to having only 12 grinding rings. It is important to note that the grinding rings on this model are the exact same size as on the V400.

The grinding rings on all vertical grinders are a manganese alloy casting, just like the components of a hammermill.

Due to the brutal nature of the Vertical Grinders job, the tub construction starts with 1" (~25mm) plate steel. Then, 3" (~75mm) thick liners are bolted to the inside of the tub. This assembly makes the tub stronger than any tank. When coupled with a ballistic hopper, the vertical grinder series is the ideal machine for de-militarisation. It can process waste ammunition shells without fear of an occasional live round. It is also ideal for smaller military materials such as small calibre bullet casings and fighter jet components. These machines achieve all de-militarisation standards, which are 100% mutilation.

Top quality components such as Siemens motors, SKF bearings, Siemens PCLs and electronics ensure reliability, ease of maintenance and world wide component availability.
